Introduction to Geographic Information Systems
Dr. Kelley O'Neal
GIS/Geospatial & Geography Information Specialist University of Maryland Libraries
Class Overview: Dr. O'Neal introduced the Life Pieces to Masterpieces apprentices to geographic information systems. With the help of iSchool graduate students the apprentices used Simply Maps and Story Maps to review information about areas where they are interested in attending college.

Class Overview: The team from User Support & Systems talked to the Life Pieces to Masterpieces apprentices about technology careers within the field of information science, specifically in academic libraries. Students were given a tour of the systems used in McKeldin library. The User Support & Systems team also showed the students the McKeldin Makerspace and helped students to design three-dimensional key-chains using the TinkerCad program.
