Session Overview:
Dr. Taharee Jackson, Assistant Professor of Minority and Urban Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership, will lead an interactive session on "isms" at the individual, institutional, and cultural levels. Dr. Jackson will use graphics, memes, and visuals to explore racism, sexism, classism, faithism, and continued struggles for social justice and equity in education and society writ large. Participants in will be invited to call upon their own experiences by using counter storytelling and personal narrative to engage in deep dialogue around issues of diversity and resistance. Anecdotes from the Diversity Immersion Institute directors and staff will also be incorporated during a concluding collective discussion.
